From all the tributes the main thing that stands out is that he was a genuine warm bloke who had time for people Moyes on the official site recalls that when he was appointed Everton manager Houllier invited him to dinner to welcome him and talk football Moyes said that had an impact so he extended the same to each Liverpool manager that was appointed while he was Everton manager They all refused. Ha ha That would have been Benitez , Hodgson, Dalglish & Rodgers

I always remember him moaning he didn’t have any players when he had actually signed 40 up to that time

Always seemed to have health issues later in life. Was an intelligent individual who knew his football. That aside, who actually gives a shit, not even worth a thread.

I remember a story doing the rounds when Houllier and Roy Evans were joint managers at Liverpool.
EVANS: "Hey Gerard, if we win today do you fancy going for a drink after the game?"
HOULLIER: "Hon hon hon, du vin?"
EVANS: "No, we'll take the bus."

Seems well liked among his peers, interesting reading that he was a teacher in Liverpool 16 years before he was their manager.

Agree with Russ and Hermit.
Despite managing that fucking cunt club, he seemed a really decent bloke. Very sad.

Didn't they used to call him Gerry and the Pacemaker due to his heart condition?
Regardless, as others have said, seemed like a decent bloke and along with Bill Shankly, are the only ones I had time for
RIP Gerard

One of the very few people associated with that despicable club who seemed like a genuinely decent human being.

Probably one of the only Liverpool managers I have ever liked.
Seemed a decent fella and a proper football man.
